Cardinal Suharyo Bring Palma Leaves To Hasto Sambut Easter At The KPK Detention Center
JAKARTA The Archbishop of Jakarta, Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo, visited the Secretary General (Sekjen) of the PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto at the Red and White KPK Detention Center (Rutan), Monday, April 14. This visit was carried out in order to welcome the Easter celebration.
Cardinal Suharyo came in a black car and was greeted by Hasto's team of attorneys, including Ronny Talapessy who also serves as Chairman of the PDIP DPP. Wearing batik, Cardinal Suharyo was then directed to the visitor registration room.
Interestingly, one of the Hasto family members gave Palestinian leaves to Cardinal Suharyo. He said that the palm leaves are an important symbol of the Easter traditions of Catholics.
"(Daun palma) in the context of Easter," said Suharyo briefly.
After that, Cardinal Suharyo entered the detention center area with a number of Hasto's lawyers.
Hasto's attorney, Ronny Talapessy, explained that this visit had been officially registered through the Integrated Criminal Files Electronic system (e-Berpadu) during the trial on Friday, April 11.
The visit permits were given to three people, namely Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo, and two members of Hasto's family, namely Anastasia Rukmi Sapto Astuti and Edo Kristiyanto.
"We show permission from this e-Berpadu so that the technical visit runs smoothly," said Ronny during the trial.
Responding to this, Chief Justice Rios Rahmanto emphasized that as a defendant, Hasto still has the right to visit.
"Allow the visit, go ahead, but we hope that in the future the request will not be too tight," said the judge.
As is known, Hasto Kristiyanto is currently undergoing legal proceedings as a defendant in the alleged obstruction case of investigation and bribery related to the interim replacement process (PAW) of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives. He was also charged with being involved in the bribery case against the former KPU Commissioner, Wahyu Setiawan.
Currently, Hasto is being held at the KPK Rutan at the Red and White Building branch, and the trial process takes place at the Corruption Court (Tipikor), Central Jakarta.
