Tired Of Being Slandered, Jokowi Is Ready To Fight Hoax Spreaders Of Diplomas!
SOLO The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo or Jokowi, and his team of attorneys are considering legal steps related to allegations of using fake diplomas that have resurfaced.
Jokowi said the allegations had actually been publicly denied by Gadjah Mada University (UGM), including by the rector and dean of the Faculty of Forestry. However, because this issue continues to circulate, his party is now considering legal options to follow up.
"It is being considered by lawyers to be studied more deeply. Statements from the UGM rector, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, have all been clearly conveyed," said Jokowi at his residence on Jalan Kutai Utara No. 1, Sumber Village, Banjarsari District, Solo, Friday 11 April.
Jokowi emphasized that he really studied at the Faculty of Forestry UGM and his diploma were genuine.
"We want to show that I really studied at the Faculty of Forestry, and his diploma was actually issued by UGM. It has been conveyed openly, repeatedly," he explained.
He also regretted that there were still parties who took issue with technical matters such as errors in writing letters or numbers in the document.
"If this continues to be handled about letters, later about numbers, it will not be finished," he said.
Jokowi added that those who accused him of being able to prove these accusations. Meanwhile, he and his legal team have shown evidence and facts about the authenticity of his diploma.
When asked further about the form of legal steps to be taken, Jokowi asked the media crew to ask the legal team directly.
"It's still being studied by lawyers. Please ask them," he said.
Previously, on Wednesday (9/4/2025), Jokowi's team of attorneys met the former president at his residence to discuss the follow-up to the allegations.

One member of the legal team, Yakup Hasibuan, stated that his party was currently drafting appropriate legal steps. With Jokowi's current status no longer serving as president or public officials, the legal approach to be taken is also different.
Yakup assessed that the allegations of fake diplomas that continued to be spread were a form of spreading fake news that led to slander. He also appealed to all parties to stop the spread of the information.
