Fire Fighting Robot Car Criticized: High In Price But Poor In Benefits, Anies Baswedan Must Evaluate

JAKARTA - The robotic type of fire engine purchased by the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) for tens of billions is questioned by Commission A of the Regional House of Representatives DKI Jakarta.

Member of Commission A Regional House of Representatives Jakarta Lukmanul Hakim assessed that the Dok-Ing MVF-5 U3 robot car, which has a remote-based robotic system, was ineffective.

Although sophisticated, the car does not really play a role in extinguishing fires in residential areas.

“When we want to go to a densely populated location, the car doesn't arrive. For example, in Tamansari, even in Jatinegara, someone died. This must be fixed and we think about solutions for sophisticated equipment”, said Lukmanul on Wednesday, April 28.

It is known that the DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat Office purchased a firefighting robot car with the Dok-Ing MVF-U3 type for IDR 37.4 billion. The robot car, purchased from Croatia, is included in the 2019 budget and used from early 2020.

Predicted, this fire breaker can operate without requiring personnel to enter a robotic car because it is moved by a remote. thus, it can increase the safety of firefighters when extinguishing fires.

Unfortunately, Lukmanul assessed that the capital's fire suppression program was not yet effective even though DKI had purchased a fire fighting robot. This can be seen directly from the number of property losses and human casualties each time a fire occurs in a densely populated area.

Therefore, Lukmanul asked the Governor of DKI Jakarta to evaluate the fire fighting equipment, especially the firefighting robots.

"This must be evaluated. Because, every fire is always burned, the fire spreads. This means that the handling is not correct. Gulkarmat should have been more careful about buying tools to extinguish fires in densely populated houses", he said.
