NASA's Candidate For Leaders Reveals Its Ambition To Landing Astronauts On Mars

JAKARTA - Jared Isaacman, a candidate for NASA leader, apparently has an ambitious mission to Mars. Isaacman delivered this plan while attending his candidacy hearing before the Senate Committee on April 9.

During the trial, the person proposed by the US President, Donald Trump, said he wanted to land an astronaut on the Red Planet. If this is achieved, America will be the first country to land humans on Mars, exactly like the record on the Moon.

"American astronauts will lead the way to 'high data' in space. As stated by the president, we will prioritize sending American astronauts to Mars," Isaacman said before the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, quoted by Space.

When delivering the plan, Senator Ted Cruz, who is the Head of the Trade, Science and Transportation Committee, warned Isaacman to stay on track. NASA's initiated Artemis mission must continue to prioritize the Moon.

The space agency had to land humans on the Moon before exploring Mars in person. That way, they will not be left behind from China. When warned by Cruz, Isaacman agreed and admitted that he would continue to follow the initial path of the Artemis Mission.

"We can map the path to Mars according to the President's (Trump) vision to return to the moon before China can get there and understand the space economy and do other things," Isaacman said.

The billionaire also confirmed that he would not cancel the gateway or other aspects of Artemis while leading NASA. This means that NASA is still dependent on the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and the crew capsule named Orion to orbit the Moon.

"I believe this is the best and fastest way to get there," Isaacman said. "I don't think it's a long-term way to go to and from the moon and to Mars at high frequencies."
