Prabowo Nervous Speech At Turkey's National Grand Council
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto delivered his first speech before the foreign parliament, namely the Turkish National Assembly, during his state visit to Ankara.
In his warm remarks, President Prabowo openly acknowledged his nervousness when delivering a speech at the honorful international forum.
"I want to convey that this is my first speech as President of Indonesia in front of parliament outside Indonesia. So, I admit that I am a bit nervous," said President Prabowo with a smile and applause from the audience as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, April 10.
President Prabowo's speech at the Turkish National Assembly was delivered before the upper ranks of parliament and guests of the honor of friendly countries.
Present on the occasion were the chairman of the Turkish National Assembly, Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmus, the Deputy Chair of the Assembly, and all members of the Turkish parliament.
Also present were ministers, heads of parliamentary groups, representatives of government agencies, ambassadors, and representatives of friendly countries.
The event was also attended by invited guests, both from within and outside the country to witness President Prabowo's inaugural speech abroad as head of state.
The speech, which took place in the historic hall of the heart of Turkey's democracy, became a momentum for President Prabowo to express his gratitude, representing 280 million Indonesians.
"It is a great honor for me to stand in this historic room, conveying greetings from the 280 million Indonesian people, Muslim brothers and sisters in the world's largest Muslim country," he said.

More than just a state visit, President Prabowo called his visit to Turkey a personal moment. He stated that he came not only as head of state, but as a brother to the Turkish people.
"As a person whose heart is touched by this land, by his history, by his struggles, and by his people," said President Prabowo.
The President also emphasized that for the Indonesian people, Turkey has a special place as one of the largest Muslim civilizations to be respected and admired.
