Hansi Flick: Barcelona Hasn't Qualified For The Semifinals
JAKARTA - Barcelona successfully destroyed Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in the first match of the Champions League quarter-finals. Despite a big win in a duel at the Olimpic Lluis Companys Stadium, Thursday, April 10, 2025 in the morning WIB, coach Hansi Flick said Barca could not be sure to qualify for the semifinals.
Flick immediately said 'no' or 'no' repeatedly. He dismissed the assumption that Barca had secured a ticket to the semifinals. Even though it only needed a draw to get rid of Dortmund in the second match which was held at the opponent's home at Signal Iduna Park Stadium, Wednesday, April 16, 2025 in the morning WIB, Flick stated that Barca would not qualify.
According to him anything can still happen. If Barca lose 3-0, they will still step into the semifinals. However, Dortmund's chances of pursuing a goal deficit remain open.
"No, no, no, no [and it was said repeatedly]. We clearly haven't passed! You don't know what's going to happen because football is a crazy sport," Flick said.
"If we want to qualify, we have to play like that in Dortmund. We make no mistakes and play well. When you play like that, you will score a goal. And that's what happens," he said.
"Obviously a 4-0 win is a satisfying result. But we will still have one game in an incredible stadium. And, they are a good team. We have to be confident and know what to do," said the former Bayern Munich coach.
Barca, who hunted treble, appeared almost perfect at home to Die Borussen. They performed brilliantly with striker Robert Lewandowski scoring a brace against his former club.
Meanwhile, Raphinha opened the Los Cules victory party. Lamine Yamal's young players solidified Barca's lead to 4-0.
"They (Lewandowski, Yamal and Raphinha) played brilliantly. But what's more important is our defense and those who are fielded as substitutes," said Flick.
The former German national team coach gave his appreciation to the substitutes. Despite rotationalizing players for playing games with a busy schedule, Barca continued to play solidly.

"With a schedule like this, it is important for us to keep the players in shape. So the depth of the squad is the key," he said.
Barca will face Leganes first in the Spanish La Liga competition. Next, they met Dortmund in the second match of the Champions League.
