BAC 2025: Gregoria Without Obstacle To The Second Round
JAKARTA Gregoria Mariska Tunjung did not encounter any obstacles at all in her first match at the 2025 Asian Badminton Asia Championship (BAC).
The owner of the 2024 Paris Olympics bronze medal secured a ticket to the second round thanks to a win over Huang Yu-Hsun (China Taipei) two straight games 21-12 and 21-16 on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
"Thankful for the good start today. At the beginning, you could say I played pretty clean and it was a good thing to start the tournament," Gregoria said in a statement.
Gregoria is the second Indonesian women's singles who have secured a second round ticket. He followed his colleague Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi, who defeated Wong Ling Ching from Malaysia.
In the second half, Thursday, April 10, 2025, Gregoria, who is the fourth seed, will meet Kim Ga-eun from South Korea. It was their 11th competitive meeting.

On paper, Gregoria was recorded as very dominant. He managed to win 10 previous clashes, including in the last 16 of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"Hopefully tomorrow I can memorize the conditions of the field even more because in the second game I had quite a hard time," said Gregoria, who is the 2017 junior world champion.
The other two women's singles who have not played are Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo and Putri Kusuma Wardani. The daughter will meet the first seed Wang Zhi Yi and Ester to face Pusarla V. Sindhu.
Apart from Gregoria and Komang, today's second half ticket was also secured by Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana and Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi.
