Businessman Complains, Prabowo Asks Himbara To Support Textile Industry

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto conducts Economic Facilities by collecting business actors from various sectors, one of which is the textile industry.

Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Jemmy Kartiwa Sastratmaja complained about the potential for scarcity of demand or demand shortage due to the trade war by the United States.

Responding to this complaint, Prabowo admitted that he was determined to issue a policy that could help Indonesian textile industry, including collecting the president director of state-owned banks or the Association of State Banks (Himbara).

"Yesterday we had a meeting, I have summoned all Directors of Himbara and Governor of BI, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of Finance," Prabowo said in Economic Facilities, Tuesday, April 8.

During the meeting, Prabowo admitted that he had given instructions to Himbara Bank to provide support to labor-intensive industries such as the textile industry.

"We must be aware that the domestic kirta market is very large. So with our economic approach and strategy, we will empower the lowest decile with a massive investment of our economic power in the domestic economy," explained Prabowo.

He emphasized that he would strengthen the domestic industry by taking advantage of existing opportunities. He gave an example that currently there are 44 million school children who need footwear. He showed that each child needed at least 3 pairs of shoes. Not only that, each child also needs two pairs of uniforms that can increase the number of requests for domestic clothing.

"So don't worry. We are aware of the importance of labor-intensive industries. But I remind you that we have domestic power, we have a large domestic market. Now it's just our management," he said.
