Passing Indonesian Citizens From India Without Quarantine, COVID-19 Task Force: Don't Dare To Play Lives!
JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Wiku Adisasmito admitted that he was furious at the father and son who helped Indonesian citizens from India not carry out quarantine upon arrival in Indonesia.
"The Task Force cannot tolerate the emergence of individuals who take advantage of the situation by committing abuse. Never dare to play with your life because one life is very meaningful and priceless", Wiku said in the Presidential Secretariat Youtube broadcast, Tuesday, April 27.
Wiku asked law enforcement officials to solve this case and impose sanctions by the applicable laws and regulations.
Furthermore, Wiku again explained that the 14-day quarantine imposed for Indonesian citizens arriving from India (previously written for foreigners from India) was a government effort to prevent imported cases from entering in the form of a new variant of COVID-19 originating from India.
"Therefore, I ask Indonesian citizens who arrive from India to comply with these provisions, for our common safety. Do not even try to do anything that violates this provision and has the potential to get legal consequences", explained Wiku.
Previously, the police arrested the father and son for allegedly helping Indonesian citizens who returned from India with the initials JD (previously written as foreigners from India) to enter Indonesia through Soekarno-Hatta Airport without a quarantine period.
The father and son have the initials S and RW. They were arrested on Sunday, April 25th. In acting, the father and son claimed to be airport officers. They offered JD assistance in exchange for around IDR 6.5 million.
Currently, the three people are still being examined intensively. Because, from the results of the temporary examination, the father and son were not airport officials. They only confessed to tricking JD.
"If he confesses to JD he is an airport employee. He is with his son. S and RW are father and son", said Public Relations of Jakarta Metro Police Kombes Yusri Yunus.
