Examining The Mayor Of Tanjungbalai, KPK Confirms Evidence Of Alleged Sale And Purchase Of Position
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigated the Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial. He was questioned regarding allegations of corruption related to the sale and purchase of positions at the Tanjungbalai City Government, North Sumatra in 2019.
During the investigation, Syahrial confirmed a number of pieces of evidence that the investigators found during a search some time ago.
"M Syahrial, Mayor of Tanjungbalai, was confirmed, among other things, related to some of the evidence found during the search in several places in Tanjungbalai City," said Acting KPK spokesperson for prosecution Ali Fikri in a written statement, Tuesday, April 27.
Apart from Syahrial, in this case, the KPK also conducted witness examinations at the Tanjungbalai Police on Saturday, April 24. At that time, the KPK conducted investigations on Asmui Rasyid, a household manager, a civil servant named Ahmad Suangkupon, and private employee Ivo Arzia Isma.
As for Asmui and Ahmad, investigators have explored the process of executing the position auction at the Tanjungbalai City Government.
"Meanwhile, Ivo Arzia Isma, who is a private employee, has to study, among other things, the alleged flow of money to parties related to this case," said Ali.
The KPK actually also summoned the Acting Head of the Tanjungbalai City BPKAD Muhammad Arif Batubara and the wife of the Mayor of Tanjungbalai Sri Silvisa Novita. Both were absent and will be rescheduled.
Previously reported, the KPK is currently investigating allegations of corruption related to the sale and purchase of positions in Tanjungbalai City. It's just that, in the middle of investigating this case, the KPK named three suspects.
They are KPK investigators from elements of the Bhayangkara Corps AKP Stepanus Robin Pattuju, Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial, and lawyer Maskur Husain. The three of them are suspects in the bribery suspicion that the case was terminated in Tanjungbalai which is currently being investigated by the KPK.
In this case, Stepanus and Maskur were suspected of violating Article 12 letter a or letter b or Article 11 and Article 12B of the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) k-1 of the Criminal Code.
Meanwhile, MS was suspected of violating Article 5 paragraph 1 letter a or b or Article 12 of the Corruption Eradication Law.
