Protested By Usman Hamid About Destroying The KKB In Papua, Bamsoet: Are Terrorists Using Human Rights?
JAKARTA - The chairman of the MPR, Bambang Soesatyo, responded to Amnesty International Indonesia's statement that he objected to his statement about destroying the armed criminal group (KKB) in Papua. Bamsoet emphasized that the interests of the country and the people are the main thing.
According to Bamsoet, there should be no room for tolerance for the proliferation of separatist and terrorist movements in Indonesia, which have even been labeled by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).
"Are the separatists and terrorists using the theory of human rights when they kill the people and officers on duty? Brush it off. Crush and flatten the inhuman separatists and terrorists," said Bamsoet to reporters, Tuesday, April 27.
"As the leader of the MPR, in order to protect the people and the country, I am ready to become a responsible person before international law or any law. Most importantly, separatists and terrorists can be eliminated from Indonesian soil," continued Bamsoet.
From the aspects of defense, national security and law, continued Bamsoet, it is clear that the KKB in Papua is not an ordinary armed criminal group. According to him, KKB is a movement that has the goal of separating itself from the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
"They clearly do not have the right to self-determination. Because, when Papua became an integral part of the Republic of Indonesia based on the 1962 New York Agreement, the right to self-determination was invalidated by law," explained the former chairman of Commission III. The DPR
Bamsoet assessed that it would be very appropriate if the KKB movement was considered a rebellion against the legitimate government (treason) by means of terror. So that the stipulation of a state of military emergency, both in national and international law, is legal and can be enforced immediately.
"There should no longer be tolerance for separatists and terrorists for committing crimes that have disturbed the public and resulted in casualties. Mobilize all the strength of the state," said Bamsoet.
"If necessary, we need to lower the best 4 Matra forces we have apart from Densus 88 and Brimob Polri. Namely Gultor Kopassus, Raiders, Bravo and Denjaka. Give them one month, they will definitely be able to wipe out the separatists and terrorists in Papua to their roots," he added. the Golkar politician.
Previously, Amnesty International Indonesia Executive Director Usman Hamid regretted the statement made by the Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) who asked the government to completely crush the armed criminal group (KKB).
Bamsoet wants the KKB to be crushed because it shot the head of the Papua Regional Intelligence Agency (Kabinda), Brig. Gen. I Gusti Putu, Danny Nugraha Karya, to death.
Usman reminded that Bamsoet's statement about the desire to destroy the KKB ignored the principles of human rights. Usman considers that the statement has the potential to encourage an escalation of violence in Papua and West Papua.
"We deeply regret the statement by the Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly that ignores human rights. Human rights are a constitutional obligation that must be a priority in every state policy. Putting aside human rights is not only against international law, but also unconstitutional," said Usman in his statement, Tuesday, April 27th.
