Wave 2 Regional Head Retret Will Be Held, 25 New Participants Will Join

The second wave of regional head registration will not be similar to the first wave. The retretization will be made simpler than before.

"There are 49 regional heads who have not taken a total of the retreat. Some will follow the second wave," said Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto after meeting the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at his residence on Jalan Kutai Utara, Number 1, Sumber, Solo, Central Java, Thursday 3 April.

According to him, the two-wave retreat participants included the head of regional heads in Bali who were absent from the previous retreat in Magelang, as well as the regional head who had disputed at the Constitutional Court.

"So there are 25 regional heads who may join the second wave," said the former mayor of Bogor.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has prepared a budget for the second batch of regional heads. The location of the retreat cannot be ascertained whether to use the Military Academy, Magelang or not.

"The place is also not certain. It can be in Magelang or in other places, with a more minimalist concept. Approximately 25 to 30 regional heads," he explained.

Bima Arya said the concept of a second wave of regional head recruitment would be simplified according to the budget.

"We have calculated. This retret budget is for all regional heads, so later it's just a matter of simplifying the concept," he said.

The Ministry of Home Affairs will hold a three-wave regional head retreat. The last retreat will be held after the 2024 Pilkada re-voting (PSU) is completed.
