Maluku Police Ask For Time To Investigate Clashes Between Tulehu-Tial Youth
AMBON - Maluku Police Chief Inspector General Eddy Sumitro Tambunan ensured security guarantees in the post-conflict Tulehu and Tial areas or fights between youths that occurred in Tial Village, Salahutu District, Central Maluku Regency, last March.
To ensure security in the area, the Kapolda plans to establish Security Posts in Tulehu and Tial and take firm action against the perpetrators involved in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
"Give the authorities the opportunity to investigate this incident," said Eddy in Ambon, Antara, Thursday, April 3.
In handling this problem, his party together with the Governor of Maluku Hendrik Lewerissa, Koorsahli who represented Pangdam XV/Pattimura with the King of Tulehu Country and community leaders had held a security and social security meeting at the Tulehu Village office.
This meeting was held as a step to ensure security and order after clashes between youths in Tial Village.
The Kapolda admitted that he deeply regretted what had happened, especially during the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
"We should respect each other, respect, and establish friendship to strengthen unity and integrity in maintaining a safe security and security situation," he said.
Regarding fights between youths in Tial, the Kapolda has taken strategic steps to anticipate the development of the situation. These steps include internal consolidation by collecting and providing direction to officers and Kapolsek in line with the Ambon Island Police. The goal is to ensure that the jurisdiction of the Polresta remains conducive and is not affected by the incident.
The Kapolda said that the Governor of Maluku would also facilitate the treatment of victims and bear the costs of treatment and funeral expenses.
"We will also submit this issue to the authorities to be followed up in accordance with applicable law," he said.
He appealed to the King and community leaders in the two villages to reduce their citizens and not to act alone.
"Don't judge yourself. If something happens, tell us. Do not damage the image of Tulehu Country which is already famous. This is our asset," he reminded.
He also appealed to the public to be wise in social media and not to be provoked by information that is not necessarily true. The Maluku Police Chief and other regional leadership communication forums (Forkopimda) guarantee that the situation is safe, and the community can carry out activities as usual.
Previously, this fight started when a young man from Tial Village, with the initials SL, reprimanded three youths from Tulehu Village (JM, RO, USA) who were riding a motorcycle in Salameti Hamlet, Tial Village.
Not accepting being reprimanded, the three young men stopped and abused SL using sharp weapons. This incident triggered a spontaneous reaction from the local community who then abused the three perpetrators.
