FIG Will Review Indonesia's Readiness To Host WAGC

JAKARTA The International Gamenastic Federation (FIG) will review Indonesia's readiness to host the 53rd edition of the World Gymnastics Championships (WAGC) this week, April 4-5.

The four FIG representatives who attended to review venues in Indonesia were Andrew Tombs (Men's Artistic Gymnastics Technical Committee FIG President) and Donatella Sacchi (Women's Artistic Gymnastics Technical Committee FIG President) and Celline C and Stephan D as sport event manager.

"After that, we will hold an internal meeting to evaluate preparations for the smooth running of this event," said Chairman of the Indonesian Gamenastic Federation Ita Yuliati in a statement received.

The two locations that will be reviewed by FIG are the Indonesia Arena and the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC). Those are the two main venues that will be used for matches and exercises.

The 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships Jakarta 2025 is scheduled to take place from 19-25 October with the theme Move to Inspire.

Not only is it expected to inspire the younger generation to become world-class gameastic athletes, this event will also implement the FIG Aging Society program. It is an initiative to improve the fitness of the elderly through gameastic sports.

"This event is also in line with the government's program in maintaining the fitness of the senior generation of Indonesia. It is hoped that the game can have a positive social impact on the community," said Ita.

This is the first time Indonesia has hosted the Gimnastic World Championships. Indonesia is the first country in Southeast Asia and the fourth in Asia to be trusted to host this prestigious event.

It is estimated that around 600 athletes from 70 countries will participate in this prestigious world championship. A total of 1,200 people, including officials and judges, will attend Jakarta later.
