Minister Karding Bans Indonesian Citizens From Going To Work To Myanmar To Thailand, This Is The Reason

JAKARTA - Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Minister (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding asked the public not to be tempted by high-paid job offers in several Southeast Asian countries (ASEAN), such as Myanmar, Cambodia, and Thailand.

This is because these countries are often the purpose of criminal acts of trafficking in persons (TPPO).

"I always say, it should be for Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand, no one should leave if they are to work. Because there must be a tendency to get TIP," Karding said as quoted from his written statement, Wednesday, April 2.

In addition, Indonesia also does not have an agreement to place immigrant workers with the three countries. Therefore, the protection of its main migrant workers departing through illegal channels is quite difficult.

"Actually, our country does not yet have an agreement on placement with several countries," he said.

Karding pun melarang keras masyarakat yang ingin bekerja dengan iming-iming uang tinggi, namun berangkat secara ilegal ke negara seperti Myanmar, Cambodia dan Thailand.

"So, while if I may ban it, I forbid it," he concluded.
