Second Day Of Eid, Pasar Senen Station Is Still Crowded With Homecomers

JAKARTA Pasar Senen Station, Central Jakarta, is still crowded with travelers who want to return to their hometown on the second day of Eid al-Fitr 1446 H. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI noted that as of April 1, 2025, the number of passengers departing from the station reached 26,531 people with an occupancy rate of 102 percent.

"The number of trains (KA) departing today is 39 long-distance train trips (KAJJ)," said KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager, Ixfan Hendriwintoko, in Jakarta, Tuesday (1/4).

The high number of departures at Pasar Senen Station has been predicted previously. Pasar Senen is indeed one of the main points of departure for travelers to various cities in Central Java and East Java.

To accommodate the surge in passengers, KAI has provided additional trains during the Lebaran period to ensure travelers continue to get optimal tickets and services.

Based on data compiled by KAI Daop 1 Jakarta during the period March 21 to April 11, 2025, three favorite destination cities from Pasar Senen Station are:

- Pasarturi Station, Surabaya 24,427 passengers

- Lempuyangan Station, Yogyakarta 23,485 passengers

- Kutoarjo Station 20,923 passengers

Meanwhile, at Gambir Station, the main destination cities for travelers are:

- Yogyakarta 34,866 passengers

- Semarang Tawang 30,644 passengers

- Bandung 23,781 passengers

Tickets Sold Almost 100 Percent

Overall, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta noted that the total seats available during the Eid period 1446 H/2025 (March 31-1 April) were 95,398 seats with tickets selling up to 95,544 seats, resulting in 100 percent occupancy.

Pasar Senen Station recorded a higher number of departures compared to Gambir Station. Of the total capacity of 573,690 seats, 466,625 seats have been sold, with occupancy rates reaching 81 percent.

After Lebaran, KAI noted that the total train journey after Eid reached 858 trips with an average of 86 trains per day. The seating capacity available after Eid reaches 480,168 seats with an average daily average of 48,017 seats. Of these, tickets that have been sold have reached 200,991 seats.

In the midst of the density of homecoming, Andri (31), a private employee, expressed his happiness because he still had time to return to his hometown even though it was only for a short time.

"I just had time to go home today because I still have work to do before. But the important thing is to still be able to meet my family," he said when met at Pasar Senen Station.

With the high homecoming flow, PT KAI urges passengers to arrive early to the station to avoid queues and ensure that homecoming trips run smoothly.
