Ministry Of Defense: Assistance For Myanmar Is Not Perturbed By Internal Conflict
Deputy Minister of Defense Donny Ermawan ensured that the TNI's humanitarian mission to help earthquake victims in Myanmar continued even though the country was being hit by conflict.
One of the efforts made by the TNI was to send security personnel to guard TNI members who were assisting earthquake victims in Myanmar.
"So that later we will assess how much it takes for the security team to provide security to officers who carry out their duties in the natural disaster area," Donny said when releasing personnel and logistical assistance for earthquake victims in Myanmar at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta, Monday, March 31.
Donny explained that the security team was members of 39 TNI personnel who were sent today. The 39 personnel consist of various corps such as Kopassus, Marines, Kopasgat and pilot personnel Herucules.
Regarding the logistics delivery process, Donny admitted that his party would not have any problems bringing logistics in even though there was a conflict in Myanmar.
This was confirmed by Donny because the TNI had coordinated with the local government and the ASEAN Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Center) organization.
The TNI, continued Donny, will also not interfere in the political affairs and the wave of conflicts that are currently happening in Myanmar.
"We, the Indonesian people, help the people of Myanmar. So that's what we hold," said Donny.

Donny said that TNI personnel who were sent to Myanmar would later carry out several humanitarian tasks including treating injured victims, building humanitarian and health posts and assisting the process of searching for victims.
They, said Donny, will also distribute foodstuffs, medicines, tents and other equipment to earthquake victims.
Donny hopes that the assistance provided by the Indonesian government can ease the burden of life for earthquake victims in Myanmar.
