MotoGP Standings After The American GP: Alax Marquez At The Top

JAKARTA Alex Marquez temporarily leads the drivers' standings after the 2025 MotoGP Grand Prix (GP) was completed on Monday, March 31, 2025.

The American GP which took place at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Austin, Texas, was won by Francesco Bagnaia. The Italian rider finished with a time of 39 minutes 00.191 seconds.

Alex trailed on the second podium with a time difference of +2,089 seconds from Bagnaia. However, that position managed to boost Alex up to the top of the standings.

The rider who rode a motorcycle belonging to the BK8 team Gresini Racing Team now collects 87 points from the three series that have been held. He is one point ahead of his brother, Marc, in second place.

Marc Marquez himself failed to get points at the American GP after falling at Turn 4 when the race entered Lap 9. He had time to continue the race, but then withdrew.

Bagnaia made the best use of Marquez's failure. Despite having fought with Alex, he still appears calm to secure his first win of the season.

Victory in America made Bagnaia temporarily occupy third place in the standings. The two-time world champion is currently 12 points adrift of Alex.

The American race itself was marked by the drama Marquez when the new race was about to start. The six MotoGP world champion that time decided to replace the motorbike to dry tires and delayed the race.

The Spanish rider ran back to the pit lane to take Bagnaia, Alex Marquez, Fabio Di Giannantonio, and Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) immediately.

Apart from being postponed, the aftermath of the chaos made the distance from the race cut by one lap to 19 Lap. The delay lasted for approximately 15 minutes before the American GP began.
