Minister Of Social Affairs: 31 Centers Of The Ministry Of Social Affairs Will Be Used As People's Schools

Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul said as many as 31 centers of the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) would be used as locations for organizing public schools.

One of the centers to be used is Sentra Mulya Jaya, which is located in Pasar Rebo District, East Jakarta.

"All centers of the Ministry of Social Affairs will be used as locations for the People's School. Thank God the People's School is currently in the preparation stage," said Gus Ipul as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 31.

He hopes that when all processes are mature, in April 2025, teacher recruitment, students, and various other preparations will begin to complement the readiness of the People's School program.

The Ministry of Social Affairs Center is a Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) under the Ministry of Social Affairs tasked with providing social services to the community, especially for those in need, through programs such as Social Rehabilitation Assistance (Attention).

In addition to the Ministry of Social Affairs center, he added that there will be six social centers of the Ministry of Social Affairs and one university that will be prepared as the location of the People's School.

Meanwhile in the regions, Gus Ipul said that his party is currently trying to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the regent or mayor, who has proposed his area to be part of the implementation of the People's School.

The People's School was President Prabowo Subianto's idea, which was shaded by the Ministry of Social Affairs, to provide free and quality education for children from poor families, especially extreme poor.

All public school education costs, ranging from uniforms, meals, dormitories, school equipment, and others, will be borne by the state 100 percent or free.

The program aims to glorify the underprivileged and encourage them to live more advanced, so that they can play a significant role in realizing Indonesia Gold 2045.

The People's School consists of elementary, junior high, and high school levels. The school with the dormitory concept is intended for prospective students from poor families who are included in decile 1 to decile 3 based on the National Socio-Economic Integrated Social Single Data (DTSEN).

The curriculum that will later be used in the People's School is the national curriculum, while the teaching staff who will be recruited are teachers who have passed the Teacher Professional Education (PPG).
