Two Congregants Of Eid Prayer In Pemalang Square Died By Falling Trees
Two people died after being hit by a fallen tree trunk while performing Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri prayers in Pemalang District Square, Central Java.
Pemalang Police Chief AKBP Eko Sunaryo said that a total of 19 Id prayer congregations were victims of the incident.
"Two died, two people were in critical condition," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 31.
The incident occurred when the congregation was preparing themselves for Eid prayer.
According to him, joint officers immediately evacuated all victims to the hospital for further treatment.
Officers have also cleaned the area of the Square from the branch of the broken tree.
The Pemalang Police Criminal Investigation Unit has also visited the scene to conduct an investigation
The police chief visited the injured victims who were still being treated at the hospital to check the conditions after the incident.
From police data, it is known that the two victims who died in the incident had the initials R (42) and AR (39), each resident of Pelutan Village, Pemalang Regency.
The two victims died after being hospitalized.
