8,052 Prisoners In Jakarta Receive Eid Remission, 66 Are Immediately Free

Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections (Kanwil Ditjenpas) of the Special Region of Jakarta provides Special Remission and reduced special criminal periods to 8,052 inmates and inmates in a number of Correctional Institutions (Lapas) and Detention Centers (Rutan) throughout Jakarta at the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1446 H in 2025.

"Special Remission I (partial reduction) was given to 7,941 prisoners. Special Remission II as many as 111 prisoners, 66 of whom were declared immediately released after receiving remission," said Head of Regional Office of the Special Region of Jakarta, Heri Azhari at Class 1 Cipinang Prison, East Jakarta, Monday, March 31, 2025.

Heri said that prisoners who received holiday remission were those who behaved well. The granting of special remissions is carried out simultaneously in a number of prisons and detention centers in Jakarta.

Thousands of inmates who received remission had met administrative and substantial requirements.

"All correctional officers in the Dirjenpas area have worked hard. Without their dedication, the granting of remissions will not be carried out properly," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Cipinang Class 1 Prison, Wachid Wibowo, added that the number of WBPs in Cipinang Class 1 Prison was 2455 WBPs.

"The number of Class 1 Cipinang prison inmates who received remission amounted to 1889 people. There were 13 inmates who were immediately released," said Wachid.

Wachid appealed to all inmates to continue to play an active role in participating in coaching programs and living a better life.

"For inmates who have not received remission, the opportunity to change and improve themselves is always there. Continue to try and show positive changes, because opportunities will always be there for those who are serious about improving themselves," he said.
