Elon Musk Sells X To His Own Company

JAKARTA - Elon Musk has sold social media site X to his own artificial intelligence company, xAI in an agreement worth US$33 billion or around Rp. 545 trillion.

In an upload on X, Musk said the move would unlock enormous potential by combining xAI's advanced AI capabilities and expertise with a very wide range of X.

This transaction makes the share valuation of the artificial intelligence company worth US$ 80 billion or around Rp. 1,320 trillion, while X is US$ 33 billion or Rp. 545 trillion.

Musk, who served as chief executive of Tesla and SpaceX and adviser to US president Donald Trump, previously bought a site formerly called Twitter for US$44 billion in 2022.

Under his control, he dismissed his staff and changed his policy on hate speech, misinformation, and user verification, then changed his name to X.

After that, a year later he launched xAI. The future of xAI and X is interconnected. Today, we are officially taking steps to combine data, models, computation, distribution, and talent. This combination will unlock great potential by combining xAI's advanced AI capabilities and expertise with a wide range of X, Musk wrote on X.

"This combined company will provide a smarter and more meaningful experience for billions of people while remaining loyal to our core mission of seeking truth and advancing knowledge," concluded Elon Musk regarding the sale of X.
