Brentfod Captain Christian Norgaard Officially Extends Contract Until 2027

JAKARTA - Brentford captain Christian Norgaard has extended his contract at the club which will tie him to 2027.

The 31-year-old's contract bond earlier expires this summer, however Brentford took the option to enable a 12-month extension.

"This new contract doesn't really need to be thought of for us and Christian at all," said Brentford manager Thomas Frank, quoted from Brentford's official website, Saturday.

Christian is an integral part of the fantastic journey we've been through in the last six years. He is the captain of the club and one of our most important players.

His ability to feel danger and intercept is at an extraordinarily high level, as he is able to play forward at the first or second touch. And he is a threat to the opponent's goal this season," he continued.

Norgaard was brought in by Brentford from Fiorentina in 2019 and has made 187 appearances. He helped the club promote from Championship and become a regular participant in England's highest-tier competition. He has made 25 appearances this season, with four goals and two assists contributing.

The midfielder had previously worked with Frank, while still playing for the Danish age group national team, and then while defending Danish club Brondby.

"When I first coached Christian, he was only 10 years old, now he is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League," added Frank.

Norgaard is Brentford's latest player to bond his future with the club. Previously, Mikkel Damsgaard, Keane Lewis-Potter and Aaron Hickey signed a new contract in January.
