Turkey's Domestically Made Short Distance Missile Tayfun Successfully Undergoes A Shooting Test, Has An Anti-jamming Feature
JAKARTA - Turkey's first domestically made short-range missile system, Tayfun, developed by defense company Roketsan, successfully underwent a test-fire in February in northeastern Turkey.
The three missile systems were successfully completed by Roketsan at 12.37 p.m. local time from Rize-Artvin Airport.
The missile system had previously carried out test fire from the same airport in October 2022 and May 2023.
The Tayfun missile itself is known to have started mass production in May 2023 following its second test-firing, according to a report by the Turk Defense website.
The missile system has great capabilities against its "deep target," the company said on its website.
"The hypersonic cruising speed is not affected by the air defense system, while the colateral damage is reduced through its high accuracy," the company's website said, noting the anti-jamming capability of the missile system, quoted from the Daily Sabah March 25.
