Buffer Area Capacity Optimized To Maximize Ship Operations At Merak Port

JAKARTA - The Banten Police Traffic Directorate optimizes the buffer capacity of the area in order to maximize the operation of the ship when entering the peak of the 2025 Eid homecoming flow at Merak Port.

Dirlantas Polda Banten Kombes Pol Leganek Mawardi when met at the Merak toll gate, Cilegon, Friday said this because all entrance tickets are regular.

In Thursday's homecoming flow (27/3) where there is an increase in vehicle density, his party flows vehicles so that the 50 available ships can operate optimally to cross passengers to the island of Sumatra.

Ditlantas Polda Banten synergizes with PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, KSOP Class I Banten in implementing the policy.

"We maximize the buffer area at Merak Port and Indah Kiat Port. We also share from Indah Kiat Port into the piers, so that the buffer area can be maximally filled," said Leganek quoting Antara.

Facing the potential peak homecoming flow on D-3 Lebaran, or today, Leganek said the scheme would still be used.

Meanwhile, at Ciwandan Port, his party will also maximize the additional capacity of ships for two-wheeled vehicles to cross.

Despite the increase in vehicle density, Leganek said this year it has decreased by 17 percent compared to 2024.

The decline could be approximately 17 percent. So earlier we evaluated it compared to last year's decline on the same day. So it is predicted that there will still be the rest (vehicles) for tonight," he said.

In order to prevent traffic jams on the homecoming route, his party has alerted a number of officers to relieve congestion.

Including the alerting of tow trucks to deal with travelers who have problems on trips and ports to be evacuated so as not to interfere with the smooth flow of vehicles to Merak Port.
