Appointed As Chairman Of The Board Of Trustees Of PARFI 56, Fadli Zon: Strengthen Commitment To Protection And Advancement Of The National Film Industry
JAKARTA - The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon, was officially appointed as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the 1956 Indonesian Film Artists Association (PARFI '56) in discussions and breaking the fast together at the National Museum, Jakarta, on Thursday (27/03/2025). This event is also a momentum for signing the Cooperation Agreement between the '56 PARFI and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan regarding the Agency System for film workers.
This appointment was delivered directly by the General Chairperson of the PARFI '56, Marcella Zalianty, who assessed Fadli Zon's dedication and leadership in the field of culture as an important asset in strengthening the Indonesian film ecosystem. This appointment is in line with the spirit of the PARFI 56 to strengthen protection and guidance for national film workers.
Fadli Zon emphasized the importance of multi-party collaboration in building a healthy, inclusive, and highly competitive film industry.
The film is not only entertainment, but also a reflection of the culture, expression of art, and the nation's diplomatic tools. Collaboration between actors, professional associations, and the government is the key in advancing our film industry," said Fadli.
In his remarks, he also expressed his full support for the protection of the welfare of film workers.
The cooperation between BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and PARFI '56 is a strategic step to ensure that film industry players get decent social security. This is an important foundation for a healthy and sustainable ecosystem," he added.

Fadli also said that the government, through the Ministry of Culture, continues to encourage the growth of the film industry with data-based policies and strategies. He mentioned that in 2024, the number of national film viewers reached more than 80 million people, far beyond the audience of foreign films, which amounted to around 42 million.
However, he highlighted the lack of cinema screens in Indonesia. With a population of more than 281 million people, Indonesia ideally needs more than 28,000 film screens, while the current number has only reached 3,000 screens.
"We need more screens, as well as a fair and fair ecosystem for all film industry players. The government is ready to support joint efforts to present concrete solutions," said Fadli.
In addition to fostering the national film community, Fadli also encourages efforts to preserve Indonesia's cinema history through the plan to build a proportional and modern Indonesian Film Museum.
"The film museum is very important, not only to commemorate the history of our cinema, but also as a space for new generation education and Indonesian cultural diplomacy," he concluded.
The event was also attended by the Chairman of the Advisory Council of PARFI 56 Dede Yusuf Macan Effendi, Deputy Chairperson of the Advisory Council Arswendy Bening, President Commissioner of PFN Yessy Goesman, Head of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan DKI Jakarta Regional Deny Yusyulian, as well as filmmakers and national film people. With the spirit of collaboration and cross-sectoral support, the appointment of Fadli Zon as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of PARFI '56 is expected to strengthen Indonesia's position as the main strength of film in Asia, as well as protect the actors behind the scenes of the national film industry.
