Strongly Protested, US Officials' Visit To Greenland Now Changed Only To Pituffik Space Base

JAKARTA - Danish foreign minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen welcomed the US's decision to change plans for a visit to Greenland that sparked a diplomatic stalemate between Copenhagen and the White House.

This visit plan comes amid President Donald Trump's desire to take over the island.

Danish Prime Minister previously said Usha Vance's planned visit, US Vice President JD Vance's wife, to the popular dog glide race in Greenland was part of an "unacceptable pressure" on the Danish semi-autonomous region.

The White House on Tuesday announced the delegation would be led by JD Vance, but would only visit the US Space Base at Pituffik in northern Greenland and not the dog glider race.

"I think it's very positive that Americans cancel their visit to the Greenland people. On the other hand, they will visit their own base, Pituffik, and we're not against it," Danish Foreign Minister told broadcaster DR.
