PLN EPI Signs Gas Sale And Purchase Agreement With EML To Secure Madura Electricity Supply

PT PLN Energi Primary (PLN EPI) and PT Energi Mineral Langgeng (EML) officially collaborate through the Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (PJBG) for the South East Madura Working Area from the Enc Field for the needs of Madura electricity.

Director of Corporate Planning and Business Development of PT PLN (Persero) Hartanto Wibowo explained, PJBG is a long wait. He also added that gas plants in Madura will be very important to ensure electricity needs in the area, which has been frequently disrupted due to dependence on supply from the island of Java.

"The presence of this plant will help increase the reliability of electricity supply, which in turn can drive the Madura economy and support the welfare of the community," Hartanto said, Monday, March 24.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PLN EPI, Iwan Agung Firstantara, said that this project was the result of a plan that had begun about eight years ago.

"At that time, to support the stability of electricity supply on the island of Madura, gas plants in Sumenep were needed. But the main challenge is to ensure gas supply for the plant. Now, eight years later, we can start the first step in gas flow to support the construction of this plant", he said.

He explained that this gas plant is expected to start flowing gas on October 31, 2025, which will improve the electrical voltage instability in Madura, which has been dependent on supplies from Gresik through the Suramadu submarine cable.

"With this new plant, we hope that the electricity in Madura will be more stable and the reserves of power generation capacity in Madura will increase to strengthen the electricity system", added Iwan Agung.

Director of PT Energi Mineral Langgeng, Kikin Abdul Hakim revealed, the collaboration with PLN EPI has started since 2013 with various challenges until it can finally be realized in 2025.

"Although we were constrained, we are very grateful to be able to continue this project again. We believe that sufficient gas supply will support the smooth operation of power plants in Madura and provide great benefits for the community," he explained.

As for the initial stage, the gas supply from the ENC field is 7 BBTUD. However, it is hoped that it will continue to increase to 30 BBTUD.
