The National Police Alludes To The Benefits Of SKCK When The Ministry Of Human Rights Proposes Abolition
JAKARTA - The National Police stated that the Police Record Certificate (SKCK) is data that is useful for improving security. Because, it contains a person's background related to the involvement of a criminal act.
This was conveyed in response to a proposal from the Ministry of Human Rights (KemHAM) regarding the abolition of SKCK.
"Because SKCK is a certificate, record in crime or crime. This is stored in one note in the police where the benefits are also in order to improve security and it is also in service," said Karo Penmas of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko to reporters, Monday, March 24.
In addition, SKCK is also said to facilitate the process of identifying and supervising and controlling security.
However, the National Police is said to be open to any input. However, it is emphasized that regulations or regulations regarding SKCK are regulated in Law Number 2 of 2002 and Regulation of the Police Number 6 of 2023.
"Of course what is positive input, we will also appreciate it and will be a part of improving services to all elements of society," said Trunoyudo.
The Ministry of Human Rights (HAM) sent a letter to the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, which contained a suggestion that the SKCK be removed because it was considered to have the potential to hinder the human rights of citizens.
The Director General of Instruments and Strengthening of Human Rights at the Ministry of Human Rights, Nicholay Aprilindo, said the letter was signed by Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai and was sent to the National Police Headquarters this Friday.
"Alhamdulillah, the Minister has signed a proposal letter to the National Police Chief to revoke the SKCK with a study that we have conducted academically and practically," said Nicholay.
The proposal emerged after the Ministry of Human Rights checked various correctional institutions (prisons) in a number of areas. During the visit, recidivist inmates were found.
The former convict was again imprisoned because it was difficult to find a job after leaving the prison so he was forced to repeat his unlawful act. They are burdened by the existence of a SKCK which is a requirement for job vacancies.
According to him, even though ex-convicts get a SKCK, there is a statement stating that they have been convicted. Therefore, it is difficult for companies or other places of work to accept ex-convicts.
These prisoners also complained about how with the SKCK being charged, their future was closed. In fact, they think that they get life sentences because they can't live a good, decent, or normal life because they are burdened by stigma as prisoners," he said.
