Caught Stealing A Motorbike In Kemayoran, Two Thiefs Beaten By Residents

Two motorcycle thieves with the initials DA alias Betok (28) and RR (19) were caught by residents and judged to a pulp on Jalan Nilam, Sumur Batu, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

Both of them were battered after being beaten by a mob. The incident began when the victim JJA (17) parked his motorbike to perform prayer.

After performing the prayer, he suddenly heard the screams of residents who caught the thief. When he was about to see the incident, the victim realized that his motorbike had been stolen.

After approaching the source of the residents' screams regarding the arrest of the motorcycle thief, the victim finally found the whereabouts of his motorbike which had been stolen by the perpetrator.

Then the furious residents finally caught and beat the residents to a pulp. Luckily, the Kemayoran Police Opsnal Investigation Team, who was on patrol, immediately intervened and secured the two perpetrators to the Kemayoran Police.

From the results of the interim interrogation, the suspect with the initials DA is known as a recidivist who has stolen motorbikes in the area four times.

The police also confiscated evidence of 1 set of letters T and magnetic keys, 1 unit of a blue Vivo cellphone and 1 unit of a silver black Honda Beat Street motorcycle belonging to the two suspects.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro confirmed the incident. The police chief emphasized that his party would not provide space for street criminals by increasing patrols.

"We will take firm action against criminals. We also urge the public to be more vigilant and use double locks when parking the vehicle," he said when confirmed, Sunday, March 23, 2025.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Kemayoran Police, Kompol Agung Ardiansyah, added that his party was still investigating and developing the motorcycle theft case.

"We are still developing it to dismantle the network of custodians," he said.

The identity of the stolen motorbike was already known to the police. The collector has the initials AWI, a resident of Kampung Bahari, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.

As a result of their actions, the two suspects with the initials DA and RR were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding theft by weight.

"They face up to 7 years in prison," he said.
