180,000 People Per Day Will Ride The Jabodetabek LRT Starting June 2022
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) through the Directorate General of Financing and Risk Management together with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is monitoring the risk of guarantees given to the Jabodebek Light Rail Transit (LRT) construction project.
From the results of these inspections, it is known that the progress of the Jabodebek LRT construction has currently reached 73 percent and is targeted to operate in June 2022.
Quoting the Ministry of Finance's broadcast, in October 2020 the Jabodebek LRT train carried out a manual trip test on the Cibubur - Cawang service line which is on the side of the Jagorawi toll road.
"The testing will continue to be gradually increased to become a driverless operation," said the Ministry of Finance in its report, Monday, April 26.
It is stated that through this technology, the distance to the arrival of the train on the Cawang - Dukuh Atas route will be the fastest train line, which is every 3 minutes during peak hours. While on other routes it will be every 6 minutes.
It is estimated that the Jabodebek LRT will be able to carry 180,000 passengers every day in its first year of operation.
"After operating, LRT will complement rail-based mass transportation facilities in the Jakarta area as has been applied to other metropolitan cities around the world," said the Ministry of Finance.
For information, 2015 has become a momentum to launch a rail-based urban transportation mode as a solution to reduce congestion in big cities.
Some of the main projects that have been launched by the Government are the construction of the Jabodebek Light Rail Transit (LRT) which involves the roles of state-owned enterprises PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and PT Adhi Karya, as well as the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) developed with a business to business scheme.
Specifically for the Jabodebek LRT project, the government through the Ministry of Finance not only provides fiscal support through State Capital Participation (PMN), but also through government guarantees for a syndicated loan of IDR 18.1 trillion.
Then, special transaction loans amounting to Rp1, 15 trillion, as well as additional funding for the construction of depots amounting to Rp. 4.2 trillion.
