Minister Of ATR/BPN Asks Tangerang And Tangsel To Change Spatial Planning To Prevent Floods
JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid requested a revision of the regional spatial plan (RTRW) to overcome flooding.
He hopes that the Tangerang City Government and South Tangerang (Tangsel) can revise their RTRW.
This was conveyed by Nusron after holding a coordination meeting with the Governor of Banten Andra Soni at the Ministry of Public Works office, Jakarta, Friday, March 21.
"The City of Tangerang and South Tangerang is not yet the time for revision, but we will force it to be revised even though it is not yet time," said Nusron.
Nusron assessed that the RTRW revision did not have to wait five years.
If needed, the government could change the RTRW before five years.
"Right, there is no obligation that the RTRW must be five years. Two years, three years is okay if it is really needed," he said.
According to Nusron, now is the right time to revise the RTRW. He said large floods in the Jabodetabek area were one of the signs that the RTRW had to be changed.
"The feeling is that for the context of this flood, serious revision is needed," he said.
Meanwhile, Banten Governor Andra Soni said that in the future there will be further coordination with the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of ATR/BPN. He said the Banten Provincial Government would prepare a technical team.
"After Eid on 8 (April) we will coordinate. And with this remaining time, we will prepare a technical team to be able to follow up on what we discussed," he said.
