Google Sues Fraudsters Who Make 10,000 Fake Businesses On Google Maps

JAKARTA Google has removed thousands of fake business locations in Maps. Not only deleting information and its location, but Google is also suing a network of scammers who created the list of businesses.

According to a CBS News report, there are 10,000 business lists that the company deleted. It's not explained what the business form is, but this fake Maps has caused a number of users, including people who own their original businesses, to suffer losses.

Google filed a lawsuit after Texas manuals reported fraud on behalf of them. Someone has pretended to be them and used their business information to commit fraud.

To end a business scam network in Maps, Google finally filed a lawsuit on March 19. After filing a lawsuit, Google's General Advisor, Halimah DeLaine Prado, said that, "The fraudster is getting more sophisticated."

A form of fraud that utilizes Google Maps has actually existed for a long time and Google is trying to continue to address it. If someone makes a fake business in Maps, the victim can find the business and contact them.

To further convince users, fraudsters will provide or promise services as they promote. After that, they will charge for payments at an increased cost.

Sometimes, the fraudster will direct the victim to the call center and convince them to make a down payment. In fact, after making the payment, the victim will be abandoned and the promised service does not really exist.

Therefore, Google is trying to continue to address this scam. Prado explained that, "We were informed of the actual fraud, we are making extreme efforts to identify similar fraud ads."
