Microsoft Shares Tips To Avoid Phishing During Eid Homecoming
JAKARTA During the Lebaran homecoming week, the number of digital transactions will increase rapidly. This increase is often used by irresponsible parties to spread phishing.
According to the Indonesian Digital Consumers Institute, phishing cases will increase by 30 percent during Ramadan and the peak will occur ahead of Eid. Therefore, users are asked to be careful in tapping the link in the email or message they receive.
Microsoft explained that the majority of phishing attacks will be on behalf of travel agents because many people go home to their hometowns. To avoid this phishing, people need to take protective measures.
"By recognizing attack patterns and taking protective measures, we can reduce the success rate of attacks, maintain data, and protect our digital world," said Panji Wasmana, Indonesia's National Technology Officer.

How To Protect Yourself From Phishing While Homecoming
Microsoft provides some preventive measures to avoid phishing that can be detrimental. First, if you use the services of a travel agent, make sure that you communicate with your official account. Pay attention to whether the domain is correct.
Next, don't rush into dealing with urgent emails. Usually, phishing actors will create email titles that urge their victims, such as financial problems and others. This will make the victim tap on the link without suspicion.
If you are asked to tap on a specific link, log in, or make a payment, check back on the email that sent you the message. To make it more accurate, check the email on the company's official website.
You also need to direct the cursor to the link before tapping the link. If the link looks suspicious or different from the website you usually visit, don't tap the link. You can only open the link if nothing suspicious happens.
