TikTok Will Show The Warning Of Missing Children In The US
JAKARTA TikTok launched AMBER Alert, an early warning system displayed to search for missing children. The system showed good results during testing so TikTok released its features in the US.
This feature has been tested since August last year. During four months of testing in Texas, AMBER Alerts has been viewed more than 20 million times by its users. In addition, this feature has contributed to child search efforts in its immediate area.
Thanks to AMBER Alerts on TikTok, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) website has been visited 2.5 million times. This data shows that online early warnings really help the search.
Therefore, TikTok partnered with NCMEC in expanding the early warning system to America, to 170 million users. AMBER Alert will be displayed on the accounts of people around where their child disappeared.
"This feature brings important and up-to-date information directly to people's For You feed to raise awareness about missing children by utilizing the power of the US TikTok community," TikTok said in a statement, quoted on Friday, March 21.
