National Electricity Peak Burden Drops 30 Percent During Eid Al-Fitr

PT PLN (Persero) projects a 30 percent reduction in electricity peak load during the Eid and Eid Al-Fitr 2025 holidays.

Director of Distribution of PT PLN Adi Priyanto said this decline was suspected by the closure of offices, factories, and the industrial sector during the Lebaran period which resulted in a decrease in electricity consumption.

"Many offices, then factories, the industry closes to celebrating Eid al-Fitr, so it is estimated that the burden will decrease by 30 percent from normal expenses on normal days," said Adi, Thursday, March 20.

The peak load for power plants on Eid al-Fitr this year is estimated to be in the range of 45 Gigawatts (GW) with a supply capacity of 67 GW.

"The GW plant is 67 GW throughout Indonesia and we still have very, very sufficient reserves, namely 22 GW or around 49 percent (reserve margin)," added Adi.

PLN, said Adi, has set the Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr Alert period (RAFI) on 17 March-11 April 2025 and has prepared a special force to secure electricity at crucial points, such as large mosques, airports, terminals, and ports, as well as community activity centers.

PLN will also prepare a layered electricity reliability at 2,855 Eid prayers points by placing Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to generators to ensure the safety of the electricity system.

In addition to places of worship, PLN will also secure 722 points such as airports, terminals, and ports, as well as 515 community activity centers that will receive layered electricity security, both with UPS and generators.

"In these places, the difference with normal days is that we prepare layered electrical reliability, so that if there is temporary disturbance and so on we can prevent it by installing UPS in these places and generators as the last alternative," said Adi.
