Hadith Closes The Eurat Based On The Story Of The Prophet SAW

YOGYAKARTA - In Islam, closing the aurat is not just an obligation but also a reflection of noble morals and personal protection. This order is clearly stated in the Qur'an and strengthened by hadith to cover the aurat which emphasizes the importance of maintaining honor.

This article will thoroughly explore the hadith-hadith related to closing the aurat, the meaning behind it, and its relevance in modern life.

Ustadz Haikal Basyarahil, Lc through his writings published on the almanhaj page, explained that in Islamic teachings, there is an "emergency" concept that refers to body parts that must be covered up, both for men and women, from the views of others.

The obligation to cover this aura is a decree agreed upon by the ulama, sourced from God's command in the Qur'an. The Prophet SAW once reprimanded Asma' bint Abu Bakar RA when he found Asma' wearing less thick clothes.

Rasulullah SAW then turned his face and said, "O Asma', actually a woman who has reached her Sulawesi age does not deserve to be seen in her body but this and this," while pointing at her face and palms. (HR. Abu Dawud, no. 4104 and al-Baihaqi, no. 3218. This Hadith is considered valid by Sheikh al-Albani).

In addition, when someone asks Prophet SAW about the limits of aurat that must be covered up and what can be shown, the prophet answers:

"Keep your aurat except from your wife or the slave girl you have." (HR. Abu Dawud, no. 4017; Tirmidzi, no. 2794; Nasa'i in Sunan al-Kubra, no. 8923; Ibnu Majah, no. 1920. This hadith was judged to havean by Sheikh al-Albani).

Then in a history conveyed by Abu Hurairah RA, Rasulullah SAW described two groups of inhabitants of hell that he had never witnessed.

One of them is women who dress, but essentially naked, lean towards skewness, and invite others to follow their way. They have a hairdo that resembles a tilted camel punctuation.

Rasulullah SAW emphasized that women with these characteristics will not go to heaven, they will not even smell the aroma of heaven, even though their fragrance can be smelled from a very far distance. This hadith is listed in the book Shahih Muslim number 2128.

Then according to a history conveyed by Abu Hurairah, the aroma of heaven can be smelled from a very long distance, which is equivalent to a 500-year journey. This is recorded in the Hadith History of Imam Malik, which is sourced from Yahya Al-Laisiy, number 1626.

Furthermore, Islam strictly prohibits the practice of seeing each other's aurat, both between men and fellow women. The Prophet SAW said:

A man is not allowed to see the aurat of another man, and a woman is not allowed to see the aurat of another woman. Likewise, it is not permissible for two men to share one cloth, or two women to share one cloth.

This hadith is narrated by Imam Muslim, number 338, and is also found in other hadith sources.

Muslim scholars agree that closing the aurat is an obligation that comes from the orders of Allah SWT. This is based on the verses of the Qur'an, especially those contained in the letters An-Nur paragraphs 30 and 31.

In these verses, Allah SWT orders men and women who believe to maintain their views and protect their genitals.

This order is seen as a way to achieve greater fertility, and Allah SWT asserts that He knows all their actions.
