President Target To Build 20 Stadiums In The Next 2-3 Years

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto, at the inauguration of 17 stadiums at Gelora Delta Sidoarjo, East Java, announced the target of building 20 new stadiums within the next 2'3 years.

The President is committed to advancing Indonesian football so that all supporting facilities and devices must be available.

"I think with the success of these 17 stadiums, we will also raise the will. We are determined to add, in the next 2'3 years, we will add 17 or 20 stadiums. All districts, later in the end they must have a good stadium," said President Prabow as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 17.

The President believes that the advancement of football in a country is not because the country is rich or poor, but because of determination and enthusiasm.

"It's not just a rich nation whose football is great. No! Many poor countries, countries in Africa, they can enter the World Cup," said the President, who was then greeted with boisterous applause from invited guests and soccer school students who attended the inauguration ceremony.

"They don't have a field like this. They are much poorer than us, but they don't want to lose. We have to learn from them," added Prabowo.

The President then emphasized his commitment to continue to foster domestic football.

"We have proven that we want to encourage and foster soccer, and we continue this with various efforts, concentration, creativity, and policies that can encourage us to have great and good achievements," said the President.

The President on Monday afternoon inaugurated 17 stadiums in various regions of the country simultaneously from Sidoarjo.

A total of 17 stadiums were inaugurated by President Prabowo this afternoon consisting of 16 renovated stadiums and one newly built stadium.

The stadium renovation and construction project was carried out by the Ministry of Public Works (PU) for approximately 12 months throughout the 2023 '2024 period with a total cost of repairing 16 stadiums and building a new stadium of IDR 1.74 trillion.

From Gelora Delta Sidoarjo, as many as 17 stadiums inaugurated by the President today include the Sriwijaya Bumi Stadium in Palembang, the Indomilk Arena Stadium in Tangerang Regency, Pakansari Stadium in Bogor Regency, Wibawa Mukti Stadium in Bekasi Regency, Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium in Bekasi City, Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium in Bandung City.

Next Maguwoharjo Stadium in Sleman Regency, Jatidiri Stadium in Semarang City, Gelora Bumi Kartini Stadium in Jepara Regency, Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang Regency, Surajaya Stadium in Lamongan Regency, Gelora Delta Sidoarjo Stadium in Sidoarjo Regency, Gelora Madura Ratu Pamelingan Stadium in Pamekasan Regency, Joko Samudro Stadium in Gresik Regency, Demang Lehman Stadium in Banjar Regency, Segiri Stadium in Samarinda City, and BJ Habibie Stadium in Parepare City.
