PBSI Caps The Reason For Not Sending Men's Singles To Swiss Open 2025
The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) revealed the reason why it decided not to send the men's singles representative to the Swiss Open 2025 which took place this week.
PBSI's Head of Development and Achievement, Eng Hian, said that the singles under the elite top were not sent to Switzerland because they had previously played at the German Open, Orleans Masters, and Ruichang Masters 2025.
"For Jonatan Christie, it was decided not to continue to the super 300 level because indeed for the top committed player, BWF has to focus on tournaments that are required to participate," he said.

Currently, Indonesian men's singles outside the elite top are recorded as Alwi Farhan, Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah, and Yohanes Saut Marcellyno.
Alwi is listed as playing at the 2025 German Open and Orleans Masters, while the other two appear at the 2025 Ruichang Masters.
The top elite is filled by Jonathan, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.
Anthony missed All England 2025 last week because he was not 100 percent ready after recovering from injury.
Eng Hian also hopes that Indonesian athletes can get better results at the 2025 Swiss Open without the presence of the men's singles sector.
"There are several top players who play there, of course this can also be a challenge for our players to prove and of course make their own achievements if they can get a title in Switzerland," he said.
The Swiss Open 2025 with Super 300 levels will take place in St. Jakobshalle, Basel, Switzerland, on March 18-23, 2025 with a total prize of 250 thousand US dollars.
Indonesia has sent a total of seven representatives there. In the women's singles sector, there is only Putri Kusuma Wardani.
The men's doubles are Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani. Then, the women's doubles dropped Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi.
Finally, the mixed doubles only sent Dejan Ferdinansyah/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.
