Really Easy, Here's How To Use The QRIS Tap Feature To Ride The MRT

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Standard Code Quick Response Service Without Scan (QRIS Tap) was officially launched on Friday, March 14, which can already be used for payments for public transportation modes such as MRT, Damri, and RoyalTrans.

Head of the Bank Indonesia (BI) Payment Information System Department Dicky Kartikoyono revealed that there are already 2,353 merchants who can use QRIS Tap.

Of the total merchants, 1,528 in the retail sector, 134 public transportation (including one Trans Sarbagita fleet, 120 Damri, 12 RoyalTrans, and one MRT with the HI Roundabout - Lebak Bulus route, 550 hospitals, 138 MSMEs, and 3 parking lots.

In the future, according to BI, QRIS Tap will also be expanded to all MRT stations, light rapid transit (LRT), TransJakarta, Jabodetabek commuter line electric train (KRL), Yogyakarta-Solo KRL, Damri, and the Teman Bus system in various cities in Indonesia.

QRIS Tap utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) technology on mobile phones. Unfortunately, for now, the QRIS Tap feature can only be used for Android users, not the iOS user.

QRIS Tap payments are now available in 15 banks and digital wallets, including: BCA, BRI, BNI, Mandiri, Bank Mega, CIMB Niaga, Bank DKI, Permata Bank, Bank Sinarmas, Bank BPD Bali, Nobu Bank, GoPay, ShopeePay, DANA, and Netzme.
