Anies Baswedan Imposes Curfew, PDIP: Too Late!
JAKARTA - In the extension of the Micro PPKM (Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities), DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan implemented a curfew on RTs that have a high risk of spreading COVID-19 or the red zone.
However, according to a member of the PDIP faction of the DKI Regional House of Representatives, Gilbert Simanjuntak, the current curfew is arguably late. Supposedly, the curfew was in effect when cases spiked a few months ago.
"The moment is not right because it is too late. Supposedly, this curfew was carried out several months ago, when the isolation beds, ICU, and burial were full when there were many cases", Gilbert said when contacted, Monday, April 26.
According to Gilbert, the current restriction on the mobility of residents in the RT (Neighborhood Association) zone contradicts Anies's statement that victory in facing the pandemic is in sight. The curfew gave the impression that the epidemic was at its peak.
"Apart from that, there is no clear consideration. So, it is confusing if only the criteria for the number of cases per RT are used as the benchmark", said Gilbert.
For information, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan issued a curfew rule against RT with a red zone. The red zone is assigned to RTs that have had more than 5 cases of COVID-19 over the past 7 days. The control scenario is carried out more strictly than in the other zones.
First, by finding suspected cases and close contact tracing. Then, positive patients and close contacts undergo self-isolation. Then, closing children's playgrounds and public places except for essential sectors.
RT with a red zone prohibits crowds of more than 3 people, limits entry and exit of RTs to a maximum of 20.00 WIB, and eliminates social activities in the RT that cause crowds and have the potential to cause transmission.
This applies during the micro PPKM period from April 20 to May 3, 2021, as stated in the Governor's Instruction Number 23 of 2021 concerning the Extension of the Implementation of Micro-Based PPKM at the Neighborhood Level.
