Meutya Hafid Affirms Her Commitment In Creating A Fair Digital Ecosystem
JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) Meutya Hafid said that the government has been trying to create a sustainable digital ecosystem and support a just digital transformation.
There are three things that Komdigi has done so far. The first is to strengthen regulations and policies through the ratification of the Personal Data Protection Act. This law is needed to protect and strengthen the security of public information.
Komdigi has also issued an AI Ethics Circular some time ago. With the launch of this circular, Meutya explained that the development of AI technology should be more transparent, inclusive, and not discriminatory.
The next effort made by the government in building a sustainable digital ecosystem is to develop digital infrastructure and AI literacy. One of them is by providing internet access to areas that have not been reached.
"We continue to expand internet access to all corners of the country," Meutya said at the Indonesia AI Institute (IAII) launch webinar on Saturday, March 15. "The movement to reach millions of people is now strengthened by focusing on AI literacy, including for women and vulnerable groups so they don't fall behind."
Next, Komdigi also involves women more in developing the AI ecosystem. Currently, AI development is still dominated by men, so the government wants to create the same development space for women.

"The current data shows that women's involvement in AI development and leadership is far from ideal," said Meutya. "The government will continue to work closely with academics, industry, and international organizations to ensure that women have equal access and opportunities."
