Vice President Appreciates Governor Dedi Mulyadi's Breakthrough In Handling Floods
JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka expressed his appreciation for the efforts of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi in dealing with flood problems in his area.
Gibran in the agenda of breaking the fast with the ranks of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), highlighted the importance of the role of regional heads in protecting the environment.
"Once again, the pictures and photos that were displayed earlier, I also want to appreciate regional heads, regents, mayors, governors who are already active in protecting their environment," said Gibran as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 14.
In particular, the Vice President highlighted Dedi Mulyadi's bold steps in controlling buildings that were not in accordance with regulations.
"Especially yesterday the most viral was the Governor of West Java who had been very brave in making breakthroughs to curb several buildings that were not in accordance with regulations," he said.
Governor Dedi's steps in controlling illegal buildings and improving environmental governance are considered concrete actions in reducing the risk of flooding that often hit several areas in West Java.
"Mr. Dedi is a brave regional head and it must be firm, especially companies that are no longer in accordance with the rules must be dealt with firmly. I really appreciate it because I myself went down to Bekasi, Sukabumi had a tremendous impact," he said.
On that occasion, the Vice President also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the central and regional governments in maintaining environmental balance and preventing the bad effects of climate change.
