Officers Find 4 Buses Not Roadworthy At Pulo Gebang Terminal

JAKARTA - Inspection of passenger safety is a top priority in the implementation of a pre-ramp-check or test of the feasibility of intercity and inter-provincial bus (AKAP) at the Pulo Gebang Integrated Terminal (TTPG), East Jakarta. During the inspection activity which began on Thursday, March 13, four buses were found that were declared not roadworthy and could potentially endanger the safety of passengers.

Pulo Gebang Integrated Terminal Operations Supervisor, Mujib Tambrin, revealed that the inadequacy was caused by various factors that could endanger the safety of passengers, such as the use of used tires coated with new rubber coatings (retreading tires), thin tires of their original size, absence of emergency doors, absence of light fire extinguishers (APAR), and the absence of glass breaking equipment.

"We appeal to autobus (PO) companies to immediately correct these shortcomings or provide replacement cars. This is very important to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers who want to travel back and forth," said Mujib when met at Pulo Gebang Terminal, Friday.

This pre-ramp-check examination was carried out by the Ministry of Transportation together with the Director General of Land Transportation and the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) and involved officers from UP PKB Ujung Menteng under the DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Service.

The pre-ramp-check implementation will be carried out in stages from March 13 to March 23, 2025. After that, the full ramp-check will be held from March 23 to April 7, 2025.

This step was taken to ensure that every bus operating during Lebaran 2025 Homecoming Transport has met strict safety standards. The government seeks to reduce the risk of accidents caused by negligence in vehicle maintenance.

"We don't want an incident that endangers the safety of passengers just because of inappropriate vehicles. Their safety is our top priority," said Mujib.

Passengers are advised to be more careful in choosing the mode of transportation and ensuring that the vehicle to be used has been declared roadworthy. If a vehicle is found that is considered suspicious or not according to standard, passengers are asked to immediately report it to the relevant officers.
