Seriously! America-Israel Reportedly Wants To Put Gazans To Somalia-Sudan

JAKARTA - The United States and Israel reportedly contacted officials from Sudan, Somalia, and the area that broke away Somaliland to discuss the use of their territory to accommodate Palestinians from Gaza.

The Associated Press (AP) reported on Friday, March 14, citing US and Israeli officials.

Sudanese officials said they rejected the United States' proposals, and officials from Somalia and Somaliland said they were unaware of the contact.

The White House and the US State Department did not immediately respond to a request for a response from Reuters. The information minister for Somalia and Somaliland did not answer a Reuters phone call seeking comment on the news.

Sudan's foreign ministry, a country that is being hit by civil war that has displaced its 12 million residents and caused hunger, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Earlier this month, Arab leaders adopted an Egyptian reconstruction plan worth $53 billion for Gaza to avoid eviction of Palestinians from the enclave, which goes against US President Donald Trump's vision of "Central East Riviera".

They include the leaders of Sudan and Somalia.

Trump has proposed the takeover of the Gaza Strip by the US to rebuild the destroyed area, after previously proposing that Palestinians be permanently moved.

Trump's plan reinforces the old fears that Palestinians will be permanently expelled from their homes, and have widespread international resistance.

Palestinian militant group Hamas carried out an attack on people in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people and holding about 250 people hostage, according to Israeli tallies.

More than 48,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military attacks.
