American Airlines Plane Caught Fire At Colorado Denver Airport, Cause Still Investigating

JAKARTA - The American Airlines plane caught fire at Denver International Airport, Colorado, USA on Thursday local time. Passengers save themselves with an emergency slide.

Twelve of them were taken to hospital with minor injuries, airport officials said.

The Boeing 737-800 aircraft was diverted to Denver shortly after departing from Colorado Springs, Colorado. As the plane moves to the gate, the engine catches fire.

The incident that caused smoke to billow on the runway, occurred at around 17.15 local time on Thursday, March 13.

There were 172 passengers and six crew members on flight AA 1006. All passengers managed to get out of the plane.

American Airlines told ABC News passengers were evacuated from the plane via an emergency landing at the exit near the wing of the nurse.

The plane flew from Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Dallas, Texas, when it was diverted to Denver after the crew reported engine vibrations, according to the Federal Aviation Authority.

The plane was diverted after about 20 minutes in flight and was in the air for about an hour before landing. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident.
