Geely Launches Galaxy Starship 7 Soon In Australia, Take A Peek At The Specifications

JAKARTA - China's automotive manufacturer Geely plans to expand its lineup of vehicles in Australia following the introduction of EX5. The car that will come to the market is Starship 7 with plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology.

Geely Starship 7 is one part of the company's plan to present eight models that are a combination of hybrid and EVs in the next three years in Australia.

Launching from Drive, Friday, March 14, it is possible that the car will not carry the name 'Galaxy' in the Kangaroo country market or replace it with a different naming. Another interesting thing is that this next model will arrive at the local showroom network by the end of this year.

Galaxy Starship 7 has a similar design language like EX5. Just like the latest model offered by Geely, this car will be built on the GEA platform.

Despite having a number of similarities, Starship 7 has a wider dimension than EX5, which is 4,740 mm long, an increase of 125 mm, a width of 1,905 mm or a wider area of 4 mm, and a wheelbase of up to 2,755 mm with a difference of 5 mm longer than its electric relatives.

Despite having a wider dimension and a relief from EX5, the altitude in Starship 7 is 5 mm lower or 1,685 mm.

Equipped by a capable architecture, the SUV comes with a number of advanced technologies including the presence of a touch screen of 14.6 inches of infotainment.

This car has the ability to run with pure gasoline and electricity, armed with a 1.5 liter engine that has up to 110 hp and torque 136 Nm combined with E-DHT transmission.

The pure electric power comes from an electric motor with a magnitude of 215 hp and a torque of 262 Nm combined with an 8.5 kWh battery which can provide a distance of 55 km or 19.09 kWh to 120 km according to the CLTC cycle.

In Australia, the car will be a direct competitor to Sealion 6 and Toyota RAV4 in the PHEV SUV segment and is estimated to be priced at less than 40,990 Australian dollars or no more than IDR 423.1 million.
