Police Arrest IPhone And Android Cellphone Thieves Owned By Convection Workers In South Jakarta

The police managed to arrest a man named Ega Suherman alias Ega who allegedly stole six cellphones belonging to a convection worker in North Petukangan, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, on Saturday, March 8.

Kasubdit Resmob Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Ressa Fiardy Marasabessy, explained that the theft involved various brands of cellphones such as iPhone, Redmi Pro, Redmi, two Vivo units, and Infinix Note 6.

"There has been a criminal act of theft of six cellphones allegedly committed by an unknown person," said Ressa on Friday, March 14.

This incident was revealed after the police received reports from the public regarding the theft that occurred at the convection. The police then conducted an investigation by examining a number of witnesses and CCTV footage at the scene.

After collecting sufficient evidence, the police managed to identify the identity of the perpetrator. Further investigation directed officers to a location in the East Ciputat area, South Tangerang, where Ega was finally arrested on Thursday, March 13, at around 10.00 WIB.

"Currently, the perpetrators have been taken to Polda Metro Jaya for further investigation," he added.

Previously, this theft had gone viral on social media after a video was uploaded by the Instagram account @Infopetukangan. The video shows a man wearing a black jacket and a hat entering convection looking for valuables.

In the uploaded narrative, it is stated that convection workers were asleep after the sahur when the thief launched his action. At that moment, the perpetrator managed to steal six cellphones belonging to the workers.

The police appealed to the public to be more vigilant and immediately report similar incidents so that they can be followed up quickly.
