Without Scan, QRIS Tap Can Now Be Used To Ride MRT Jakarta

JAKARTA - The new Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) Tap or QRIS payment service without a scan is now officially launched for the purchase of MRT Jakarta tickets today, Friday, March 14, 2025.

Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo said that the coding of QRIS Tap was presented to make it easier for the public to make transactions faster and more practical. In QRIS Tap, users no longer need to scan the QR code manually.

"This is a new innovation. If we make a QRIS transaction, so far we have scanned it first, now without a scan it is enough, we will be affixed 0.3 seconds later," Perry said at the launch of QRIS Tap at the Bundaran HI MRT Station, Central Jakarta, Friday, March 14.

Perry said that the QRIS Tap payment method can be used on phones that have near field communication (NFC) on their phones. Once the NFC is activated, users can immediately attach the phone to the tap machine at the MRT stations.

"This service can be used by people who have NFC technology devices, by using a source of credit facility savings or server based electronic money at payment service companies that support QRIS Tap. So the important thing is that the money is there, later in the account, yes," explained Perry.

DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung also tried out QRIS Tap at the Bundaran HI MRT Station. According to Pramono, this kind of payment system innovation is indeed needed in the use of public transportation modes in Jakarta.

Given, QRIS Tap allows the ticket payment queue to be shortened because its use is faster than the QR code scan. This is also useful for many Jakarta residents who have high mobility in their daily lives.

"The most happy is Jakarta. Because the one who makes the most use of this QRIS is Jakarta. Kjta can take the MRT from Lebak Bulus to the HI Roundabout by using QRIS. Later, both LRT, MRT, maybe even Jaklingko, including Transjakarta and Transjabodetabek, can use QRIS," explained Pramono.

In addition to being used in various modes of transportation, Pramono hopes that QRIS Tap can also soon be developed for the use of buying and selling payments, especially in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) activities.

"With this QRIS, we hope that the queue will be much shorter and more effective and this will have a positive impact," he added.
