Chronology And Impact Of The Corona Case At McDonald's Singapore
JAKARTA - Five employees of McDonald's Singapore are infected with COVID-19. Whereas previously when they were tested for body temperature, their temperature was not high. As a result of this incident, the company gave off hundreds of employees who worked at four outlets in Singapore. What is the chronology and impact of this case?
In a press release from McDonald's Singapore quoted by Channel News Asia on Sunday, April 12, the employees infected with the new coronavirus worked at Lido outlets, Forum Galleria, Parklane Shopping Mall, and Geylang East Central.
Five of the employees who have been confirmed positive are now under quarantine at the medical facility. They are monitored by medical personnel, according to the Singapore Ministry of Health procedures.
In fact, those infected with COVID-19 said McDonald's Singapore, had normal body temperatures when they were checked when they entered the first shift a few days ago, before they finally felt other symptoms of COVID-19. For more details, the following is the chronology of those infected.
Employee 1 works at Gerai Lido and last visited the place on April 2. Previously, he also worked at the Parklane Store for one day on March 30.
The employee then went to the doctor on April 3 to have his sore throat and fever checked. Then he was sick for five days. After that he returned to visit the doctor on April 8 and was later referred to for a COVID-19 swab test.
Then, employee 2 also worked at Gerai Lido and lastly worked on the day employee 1 checked himself into a doctor. After that, he rested. Until April 7, he had just gone to the doctor because he felt joint pain and muscle aches.
Then 3 employees work at the Parklane Outlet. He last came to work on April 8. In addition, he also worked at the Lido outlet. The employee then visited the doctor on April 9 feeling feverish.
Meanwhile, 4 employees work at the Galleria Forum Outlet. He last worked on April 8. Employee 4 is the roommate of employee 3. He is in fine condition until the company asks him to take the swab test on April 10.
Then, the last employee 5 worked at the Geylang East Central outlet and the last one was there on April 8 as well. The next day he went to the doctor with a fever and was referred to the hospital for a swab test. After the incident, these outlets were cleaned and closed until an undetermined time.
Hundreds of employees were closed
As a result of this incident, all other employees who worked at the four outlets were closed for 14 days. McDonald's Singapore has at least 210 employees off.
"This is an additional precaution on our part to ensure that these employees remain quarantined and safe in their homes," McDonald's Singapore said in a written statement.
Meanwhile, all employees who work there will be closely monitored for their health conditions, whether they have been in contact with infected or non-infected people. They are required to take their temperature twice a day and go to the doctor if they feel unwell.
"We continue to promote safety measures to the highest standards. We also encourage our customers to wear masks when they visit our restaurant to take them home according to the latest regulations. For the safety of our customers and employees as well," said Managing Director of McDonald's Singapore Kenneth Chan.
